10 Unconscious Money Blocks Holding You Back (And How to Clear Them)

Mindset

Let’s be real: money blocks aren’t always loud.

Actually, most of the time, they’re pretty sneaky.

They disguise themselves as “practical concerns” or “just being responsible.”

And before you know it, you’re stuck at the same income level, wondering why things haven’t shifted even though you’re doing all the mindset work.

Sound familiar?

You’re definitely not the only one.. Most women I work with are already smart, spiritual, and doing all the things like journaling, meditating, vision boarding, but they’re still not breaking through.

And it’s not because they’re not working hard enough…

It’s because they’re working with unseen blocks.

The kind that quietly sabotages your relationship with money without you even realizing it. Like when you tell yourself you can’t raise your prices because ‘people won’t pay that,’ even though you’re overdelivering, burning out, and secretly resentful every time another underpriced invoice goes out.

So let’s pull back the curtain.

Here are the money blocks most people don’t know they have, and exactly how to clear them.

#1 — You suck at receiving.

(Pretend like I said that with love…)

You’re probably a great giver, but when someone offers you something? You squirm.

You say, “No, I’m okay, thank you.”

You block the blessing.

MONEY BLOCK: Not allowing yourself to receive cuts off the flow of abundance. Giving and receiving are two sides of the same energetic coin.

Energetically, it’s like breathing. You can’t only exhale or you’ll run out of air. If you never let yourself inhale, you suffocate. Giving without receiving is the same! You’ll burn out, feel unappreciated, and start wondering why everything feels like such a grind.

It’s only a matter of time before you’re gasping for air and wondering why you feel so drained.

WHAT TO DO: Start small. Let someone buy your coffee. Accept the compliment without deflecting. Say “thank you” instead of “you didn’t have to.”

Receiving is a skill, and it expands your capacity for wealth. You can’t hold more if you’re still repelling what’s already being handed to you.

Practice saying YES and notice how that energy shifts your day. When you open up to receiving, you invite more in.

And listen, it’s not just about money. It’s about letting in support, connection, and opportunities that are already circling around you, waiting for a crack in the door to come through.

Receiving teaches you to believe you’re worthy just because you exist. Not because you earned it. Not because you gave first. But because you are enough.

#2 — You’ve got a low money thermostat.

You say you want $1M a year, but your nervous system freaks out when you make more than $5k in a week. That’s a capacity issue, not a strategy one.

Money Block: Your wealth consciousness hasn’t caught up to your desires. So even when you do make more, you subconsciously find ways to lose it, spend it, or sabotage it.

What to do: Slowly stretch your capacity. Track your income daily. Celebrate every bit of money that comes in (yes, even the spare change you find in your cup holder or that surprise $10 you find while doing laundry).

Think of your money thermostat like your nervous system’s comfort zone. If you don’t stretch it with intention, it will always default to what feels “safe,” even if safe = broke.

The goal isn’t just to make more, it’s to feel safe holding more. To feel normal seeing higher numbers. To stop making sudden windfalls feel like flukes or accidents.

#3 — You think people with money = bad people.

You’d love more money… except part of you still believes that rich people are selfish, greedy, or “not spiritual.”

Money Block: You’ve attached a negative identity to money. And since you’re not trying to be a horrible person, you’ll unconsciously keep money at arm’s length.

What to do: Get honest about the money stories you inherited.

Journal on this: What do I believe about wealthy people? And more importantly: Do I want those beliefs to be true?

You being wealthy doesn’t make you bad; it makes you more resourced to do good. You get to be the expander. The woman who is wealthy, kind, grounded, generous. You get to show your audience, your family, your clients, what a wealthy woman with integrity looks like.

#4 — You’re afraid of what will happen if you get rich.

You say you want to make more, but when you imagine actually getting there, it triggers fear. I get it. That fear didn’t just come out of nowhere. It’s built on years of conditioning, family dynamics, and stories you didn’t even know you absorbed.

Money Block: You’re future-pacing your downfall. “If I make that much, my family will judge me.” “People will think I’ve changed.” “I’ll become someone I don’t like.”

Again, I know these thoughts don’t just show up out of nowhere; they come from real experiences. Maybe you saw someone in your life get shamed for having money. Maybe you’ve been told to be humble or that wanting more is greedy. So, of course, part of you fears what might happen if you actually let yourself have it.

What to do: Face the fear. Play the “what if” game. What IF they do judge me? What IF I outgrow them? What IF it’s okay?

Let your success become evidence that good-hearted, generous, soulful women should have money.

Most of your fear is a younger version of you trying to keep YOU safe. Acknowledge her, then remind her that you’re building a new legacy now. You don’t have to choose between love and wealth. You CAN have the cake and eat it too.

#5 — You believe money can only come one way.

Your business. Your job. That one offer you’re pushing so hard. But here’s the thing: money doesn’t care how it gets to you.

Money Block: You’re limiting the channels through which money can flow. That narrowness is scarcity disguised as focus.

I know this can sound a little “woo,” but it’s actually grounded in logic. If you’re only looking in one direction, you’ll miss every opportunity that’s coming from another.

It’s like being so focused on making money from one specific client or launch that you overlook the random affiliate payout, the friend who wants to hire you, or the invoice that hits your account. It’s all money, all valid, all part of the flow.

What to do: Practice being open to all forms of abundance.

Say thank you when your partner pays for dinner. Celebrate unexpected checks, gifts, refunds, and discounts. The more open you are, the more ways money will find you.

Try this: at the end of every day, make a list of every way abundance showed up. Free things. Discounts. Opportunities. You’ll train your brain to spot evidence of overflow. And overflow loves being noticed.

#6 — You’re obsessed with the how.

You want to control every step, but that control is actually choking your manifestations.

Money Block: When you’re micromanaging the “how,” you’re stuck in scarcity. You don’t trust that it’s already done.

What to do: Detach from the timeline. Release the grip. Get into the It Is Done energy.

If you want to go deeper, Richard Dotts breaks this down in a quick, practical way in his book (you can grab it right here if you’re curious).

You don’t need to know exactly how it’s all going to unfold. Trying to micromanage every detail keeps you in control mode instead of receiving mode. Your job is to align your energy, show up in your power, and take the next step.

Trust is an energetic posture. Practice it daily. And if the perfectionist in you is twitching right now thinking, ‘But what if I get it wrong?’… Congratulations, you’re human! And this is exactly why letting go of the HOW matters, because perfectionism is just procrastintation dressed up as productivity.

#7 — You’re not clear on what you actually want.

You say “more money,” but what does that mean? $5k more? $100k? And why?

Money Block: Vague goals create vague results. If the universe doesn’t have a clear order, it can’t deliver. It’s like walking into a restaurant, mumbling ‘food’ to the waiter, and expecting your favorite meal to show up.

Clarity gets you what you actually want.

What to do: Get crystal clear.

What does the next level of wealth feel like? What does it buy? What kind of life does it fund?

Get into the textures and details. Vision boards are cute, but embodiment is better. Start showing up as the woman who already lives that reality. Let your habits, your boundaries, your pricing, and your standards match your vision.

#8 — You’re not taking action.

You’re preparing. Planning. Thinking about doing the thing. But you’re not moving.

Money Block: Waiting until you feel “ready” is keeping you stuck. Confidence doesn’t come before action. It comes after.

What to do: Take the damn step.

Action creates clarity. Movement generates momentum. When you show the universe you’re serious, it shows up. If you’ve been waiting for a sign, THIS IS IT.

After all, you can’t steer a parked car. You need to get in motion.

#9 — You’re not enjoying the journey!

You’re chasing the number. You think you’ll finally exhale when you hit the goal. But you’re missing the whole point.

Money Block: You’re tying your worth to achievement. That creates pressure, which creates resistance.

What to do: Practice pleasure. Build joy into your day. Dance, rest, flirt with life.

Yes – You’re allowed to enjoy yourself now.

Wealth isn’t just about the end goal. It’s about how you feel while building it. That energy? It’s magnetic.

#10 — You’re putting way too much pressure on your goals.

You’ve turned your income target into a weapon. You beat yourself up when you don’t hit it. You spiral.

Money Block: Pressure kills flow. The more you force, the more you clog your creative channel.

Think about it: when you’re tense, everything tightens – your breath, your ideas, your energy. And let’s be honest, you don’t make your best decisions from that place, do you?

You can’t create freely when you’re stuck in fight-or-flight mode, trying to muscle your way to results. It’s just not possible.

What to do: Loosen your grip. Let it breathe. Or as I lovingly tell my clients, loosen your damn shoulders and glutes because trying to force success with everything clenched just isn’t it.

Create from inspiration instead of urgency. You don’t need to prove anything. The more you trust, the faster it comes.

Remember, pressure and purpose are not the same thing. Release the pressure, but stay devoted to the vision. The goal is to move with commitment, not contraction.

Let’s wrap this up… but not before I give it to you straight.

Clearing your money blocks isn’t about working harder. It’s about getting honest, shifting your energy, and being brave enough to move differently.

And if you’re thinking, “Wow, I might have all of these,” you’re not alone. The first step is awareness. The next step? Aligned action.

So let this be your permission slip.

To receive more. To take the next step. To get messy. To let it be easier. To believe that more is possible for you…because it is.

You’ve got this.
